Martin "stavn" Lund has officially left Astralis and is now a free agent. Both the player and the organization released public statements, confirming the end of their cooperation after several months with stavn on the bench.
Stavn represented Astralis from November 2023 until August 2025. On September 1, he stepped down from the active roster, explaining that he needed time to focus on his health and personal matters. In total, the Danish rifler spent around four months inactive before Astralis and the player mutually agreed to part ways.
In its official statement, Astralis emphasized that the decision was made after open and respectful discussions, with the player’s well-being as the main priority.
“Over the past few months, Martin has taken some well-deserved time away from competition. In that period, we’ve had open and respectful conversations, and together agreed that the best way forward is to allow Martin the space to focus fully on his return — at his own pace — while we continue on our current trajectory,” the organization said.
Astralis also highlighted stavn’s professionalism and contribution to the team, adding that they will continue to support him in his future steps, both on and off the server.
In his personal message, Martin openly spoke about the difficult period he has gone through in recent years. He shared that since 2021 he has faced serious challenges both professionally and personally, including the loss of his eldest brother in December 2021 — a tragedy that has had a lasting impact on his life.
“Stavn, the Counter-Strike player, had a ton of success the following years, but I now realize that it was at the expense of taking care of myself,” he wrote.
According to Martin, in August last year he finally found the courage to step away from competition and focus on healing. With professional therapy and patience, he now feels more grounded and ready to strive for greatness again.
Stavn also expressed gratitude to Astralis for their understanding and support during his recovery, noting that the organization respected his wish to be released.
“Astralis has kindly fulfilled my wish to release me now so I can start fresh with a new project. I will be returning to the server soon,” the player stated, ending his message with the words: “A stronger Martin. A stronger stavn.”
