CS2 Receives a Massive 8 GB Update: Anubis Reworked, MP7 and PP-19 Bizon Cheaper

During the night of January 21–22, Counter-Strike 2 received a major update weighing in at around 8 GB. The patch introduced wide-ranging changes affecting competitive play, maps, weapon economy, movement mechanics, audio, and in-game content.

The fourth season of Premier mode has officially begun. As part of the seasonal update, Anubis was added to the active map pool, while Train was removed from rotation. Base map ranks have been recalculated, and legacy ranks are temporarily hidden. They will reappear once players secure the required number of wins.

Weapon balance was also adjusted. MP7 and MP5-SD received a damage increase, while their prices were reduced by $100. The PP-19 Bizon also became $100 cheaper, making it a more viable option in eco and force-buy rounds. Audio latency has been reduced across the board, weapon and knife sounds were improved, and knife hits are now differentiated by attack type and direction. Ambient sounds no longer restart when players move between zones.

Movement mechanics received one of the most significant overhauls. Jumping and bunnyhopping have been fully reworked, and jumps no longer affect stamina. For private servers, Valve added the sv_legacy_jump option, allowing server owners to enable the old jump behavior. These changes are already sparking active discussion within the competitive community.

Anubis itself underwent notable visual and structural updates. The middle area was reworked with a changed opening layout, and the A site was adjusted by moving a key box higher, impacting common angles, boosts, and post-plant situations. Clickable images showcase the updated geometry in detail.

The update also introduced new cosmetic content. Two new skin collections, Achroma and Harlequin, were added to the game, alongside a new limited skin, AK-47 | Aphrodite. The skin can be purchased for 125 stars. At the same time, the Safehouse, Dust 2, Nuke 2018, and Inferno 2018 collections were removed from the drop pool.

Valve also made changes to the map lineup outside of the main competitive pool. Golden, Palacio, Agency, and Rooftop were removed from the game. They were replaced by Warden, Stronghold, and Alpine for Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes, as well as Sanctum and Poseidon for Wingman.

Finally, sticker capsules from the StarLadder Budapest Major are now available with a 70% discount, making this a particularly good moment for collectors and traders.
