ESL Bans Insults in Team Chat Ahead of ESL Pro League Season 24

ESL has updated its CS2 tournament rulebook, introducing stricter behavior guidelines for players during official matches. The new regulations prohibit offensive language in team communications and limit when players are allowed to leave their computers during games.

Under the updated rules, any hateful, discriminatory, or abusive comments are forbidden, even if they are made only in a team's private voice or text communication. Teams that violate the policy can receive warnings, fines, or other disciplinary penalties depending on the severity of the incident.

The new rulebook also restricts players from leaving the competition area during matches. Bathroom breaks or other personal reasons are no longer permitted once a map has started unless there is a genuine medical emergency. Players are expected to remain at their stations for the entire duration of each map.

If a player has a medical condition or another valid reason that may require an exception, team managers can request approval from tournament officials before the event begins.

The updated regulations will first be enforced at ESL Pro League Season 24, which takes place from October 3 to October 11 in Katowice, Poland. The tournament will feature a $300,000 prize pool and will be the first major CS2 event played under ESL's revised competitive rules.
