Why Did DanishCorner Step Down as Astralis' Official Fan Club?
On October 12, 2026, DanishCorner released a statement announcing the end of its official partnership with Astralis as the team's fan club.
The main reason behind the decision was the organization's recent roster changes. Following the benching of Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen and Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard, only one Danish player remains on the active roster, Victor "Staehr" Staehr.
For DanishCorner, the team's national identity has always been particularly important. The community was built around supporting Astralis' Danish roster, which had been one of the defining symbols of professional Counter-Strike for many years.
Fan club representatives emphasized that the decision was not the result of a conflict with the organization. However, following the latest changes, they no longer see a reason to maintain their official status.
DanishCorner Will Continue Supporting Astralis
Despite giving up its official status, DanishCorner has no plans to cease its activities.
The community will continue bringing Counter-Strike fans together, attending tournaments, and supporting Astralis, but will now operate independently of the organization.
DanishCorner representatives acknowledged that the decision was not easy. Over the years, supporters have invested considerable time, effort, and resources into developing the community.
Additional factors included the team's inconsistent results and fewer opportunities to meet players in person at tournaments.
Former DanishCorner chairman David "Bomber" Rasmussen also stated that the community does not plan to choose another organization to support officially. However, its members will continue cheering for Danish esports players at international competitions.
He did not rule out the possibility of DanishCorner becoming Astralis' official fan club again in the future if the organization returns to a roster built around a Danish core.
What Changes Have Been Made to the Astralis Roster?
On October 9, 2026, Astralis announced that HooXi and jabbi had been moved to the bench.
The decision came as a surprise, especially since the team had recently won Stake Ranked Episode 4, securing the organization's first LAN trophy since 2019.
Both players' contracts are set to expire at the end of 2026. Despite the recent success, Astralis management decided to take the roster in a new direction.
Following the changes, three players remain on the active roster:
Love "phzy" Smidebrant, Sweden
Gytis "ryu" Glusauskas, Lithuania
Victor "Staehr" Staehr, Denmark
The team's head coach remains Filip "NEO" Kubski from Poland.
As a result, Astralis, historically known for its Danish lineups, continues its transition toward an international roster.
Who Could Join Astralis Next?
According to HLTV, the organization is considering signing two new players.
One potential addition is Polish in-game leader Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek, who previously played for Team Liquid. The second reported candidate is Nikita "cmtry" Samoletov, who was benched by FUT Esports.
Reports suggest that if cmtry joins Astralis, he could give up his primary AWPer role and focus on playing with rifles instead.
At the time of publication, neither transfer had been officially confirmed.
If these moves go through, Astralis will further establish its international roster, with Danish players no longer making up the majority of the team.

What Does Losing Its Official Fan Club Mean for Astralis?
DanishCorner's decision highlights how roster changes can affect the relationship between an esports organization and its supporters.
Astralis has long been associated with the Danish Counter-Strike scene. Its legendary Danish roster won four Major championships and established the organization as one of the most successful teams in the game's history.
Transitioning to an international lineup creates new opportunities for recruiting talent, but it also changes the team's traditional identity.
Nevertheless, DanishCorner is not completely abandoning Astralis. The community will continue operating independently while maintaining its connection to Danish Counter-Strike fans and the professional CS2 scene.
It remains to be seen whether the revamped Astralis roster can achieve success at international tournaments and how future changes will affect the organization's relationship with its supporters.
