apEX intends to retire before turning 38

Team Vitality’s Counter-Strike 2 captain Dan “apEX” Madesclaire has spoken about his future plans and admitted that he does not intend to stay on the professional scene for too long. During a Twitch livestream, the French player stated that he will end his career before turning 38.

“I will end my playing career before I’m 38. That’s certain, one hundred percent. I won’t become a streamer either. In general, I will try to stay away from CS.”

At the time of publication, apEX is 33 years old, which means that, by his own words, he plans to spend only a few more years in professional Counter-Strike. At the same time, the esports player made it clear that he does not see himself as a content creator after retiring from competition. Moreover, he had previously said that he was not sure about a future in coaching either.

Madesclaire began his career back in 2009, when he was around 15 years old. Since then, he has gone from being one of the most emotional players on the French scene to the captain of a team with which he achieved some of the biggest successes in modern Counter-Strike history. Over the course of his career, apEX has won four Majors across CS:GO and CS2, securing his status as one of the most decorated and recognizable players in the discipline.

Although apEX has not yet named an exact retirement date, his statement already makes one thing clear: for the veteran of the scene, the end of his career is not a distant possibility, but a very specific plan.
