CS2 Average Player Count Surpasses 1.07 Million — Second-Highest Record of All Time

CS2 Average Player Count Surpasses 1.07 Million

Counter-Strike 2 continues its strong growth in player activity. In January, the game reached an average player count of 1.07 million, marking the second-highest average online statistic in the franchise’s history.

The all-time record remains May 2023, when CS reached an average of 1.117 million players. Still, January’s results confirm that CS2 is once again maintaining a stable audience above the one-million mark — a major milestone for the game’s long-term popularity.

CS2 Average Players

Just as impressive is the peak player count, which has now increased for the fourth month in a row. Last month, CS2 hit a peak online figure of 1.654 million concurrent players, one of the strongest highs seen in recent years.

For comparison, in January 2025, CS2’s peak player count stood at 1.594 million, while the average was only 914,000. Over the past year, the game has added nearly 160,000 average players, alongside a noticeable rise in peak activity.

This steady growth can likely be credited to several factors: ongoing updates from Valve, a thriving esports scene, and the continued popularity of CS2’s skin and case economy — all of which keep players engaged month after month.
