Spirit Lose Second Straight Match at ESL Pro League Season 24

Spirit have suffered their second consecutive defeat at ESL Pro League Season 24. After losing to MOUZ, the world’s No. 1 team unexpectedly fell 0:2 to 1win and will now have to play a deciding match for a place in the playoffs.

Just one day earlier, MOUZ ended Spirit’s 32-match winning streak in Swiss groups, which had lasted 668 days. Now the team has also lost to 1win - 5:13 on Cache and 9:13 on Anubis.

Spirit were barely able to put up a fight on Cache. 1win went into halftime with an 8:4 lead and allowed their opponents to win only one round after the side switch. Spirit also started poorly on Anubis and trailed 3:9 after the first half. The team managed to close the gap to 9:10, but could not complete the comeback.

donk has also struggled in his last two matches. Against 1win, he recorded 29 kills and 31 deaths and finished the series with a 0.85 rating. A day earlier against MOUZ, his rating was only 0.94, while his performance on Dust2 was one of the worst of his career on that map. For donk, who is usually Spirit’s main source of firepower, two such matches in a row are particularly unusual.

Ax1Le was 1win’s best player with a 1.51 rating, while ArtFr0st posted 1.41 and BELCHONOKK finished with 1.36. The victory secured 1win a playoff spot with a 3:1 record.

MOUZ and Vitality Advance to ESL Pro League S24 Playoffs

Spirit now sit at 2:2. Despite being the No. 1 team in the world and one of the main favorites to win the tournament, they are now just one defeat away from elimination at ESL Pro League Season 24.
