Valve May Release a New Version of Overwatch for CS2 That Will Work Independently of the Game Client

Valve is reportedly preparing an updated version of the Overwatch system for Counter-Strike 2 that will be able to operate independently of the game client. Dataminer and content creator Maksim “Gabe Follower” Poletaev shared the information.

According to Gabe Follower, rumors about the return of a revamped Overwatch system have been circulating within the community for quite some time. Valve is expected to launch the new version in the foreseeable future, although its exact implementation remains unknown.

The dataminer suggested that users could be given access to a separate application or website where Overwatch participants would be able to review suspicious gameplay moments and submit their verdicts. This means that launching Counter-Strike 2 itself may not be necessary to review cases.

The updated system could follow a concept similar to Overwatch in CS:GO, where experienced players reviewed footage of users suspected of breaking the rules and evaluated their behavior.

According to Gabe Follower, Valve is currently preparing the new version of Overwatch for a public release. Access to the system will reportedly be distributed exclusively through invitations. Each invite will only be usable once and can only be linked to a single account.

The developers are also reportedly paying particular attention to confidentiality. Participants will be asked not to share any of the materials they see in order to prevent cheaters from figuring out how VACnet identifies suspicious gameplay moments.

At the same time, verdicts submitted by Overwatch participants are not expected to directly result in bans for the players under review. Gabe Follower believes that the collected assessments will primarily be used by Valve to further train and improve VACnet.
