Monte Announces New Counter-Strike 2 Roster

On October 14, 2026, Monte officially unveiled its updated CS2 roster. The announcement was made through the organization's social media channels and marked the completion of its rebuilding process following the sale of its previous lineup to Luminosity Gaming.

Ukrainian player sdy was the first confirmed member of the new project. Monte subsequently announced four additional players and a head coach.

The roster features players from Ukraine, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and Poland. The organization has opted for a combination of experienced competitors who have previously participated in major international tournaments and promising young talent.

Reports about the potential lineup first emerged in September. At the time, insiders suggested that Monte was negotiating with br0 and considering mantuu, CYPHER, and St0m4k as possible additions. Those transfers have now been officially confirmed.

sdy Returns to Monte After More Than Two Years

One of the biggest developments in the rebuild is the return of Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev.

The 29-year-old Ukrainian previously represented Monte from January 2023 to February 2024. During that period, the team achieved one of the most important results in its history by reaching the playoffs of the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023.

After leaving Monte, sdy played for ENCE and Passion UA. He is now returning to a familiar organization to help build a new team.

According to Ukrainian esports media, sdy will also take on the responsibilities of in-game leader.

Another familiar face for Monte fans is br0. The Danish player previously represented the organization from July 2023 to February 2024, including a period alongside sdy.

The return of two former members of Monte's successful roster could help the organization establish strong team chemistry more quickly.

Who Is on Monte's New CS2 Roster?

Following the official announcement, Monte's Counter-Strike 2 lineup consists of:

• Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev, Ukraine

• Alexander "br0" Bro, Denmark

• Vladyslav "St0m4k" Lykhoshva, Ukraine

• Cai "CYPHER" Watson, United Kingdom

• Mateusz "mantuu" Wilczewski, Poland

Coach: Tiaan "T.c" Coertzen, South Africa.

mantuu will take responsibility for the AWP. The Polish player previously represented OG, BIG, and other professional teams.

CYPHER is best known for his performance with GamerLegion at the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, where the team unexpectedly reached the tournament final.

St0m4k will be one of the youngest members of the updated roster. The Ukrainian player now has an opportunity to prove himself alongside more experienced teammates.

Coach T.c has previously worked with professional teams, including Complexity. His next challenge will be developing a cohesive playing system for the new international lineup.

Why Did Monte Have to Completely Rebuild Its Team?

The rebuild followed the departure of the organization's previous roster.

In the summer of 2026, Monte sold most of its lineup to Luminosity Gaming. Another former team member, Jack "Gizmy" von Spreckelsen, joined 100 Thieves.

Following these transfers, the organization was effectively left without an active starting lineup and began searching for new players.

The situation was further complicated by a dispute involving former team members. In August, Aurimas "Bymas" Pipiras publicly alleged that the organization owed him money, including payments related to Major stickers.

Other former Monte players later joined the discussion. The organization disputed some of the allegations, while public statements from both sides sparked considerable debate within the esports community.

Against this backdrop, the new roster is expected to help Monte restore stability and focus on competitive results.

Monte's New Roster Has Already Played Its First Matches

Although the official presentation took place on October 14, the new roster had already competed together.

The players participated in the open qualifier for Stake Ranked Episode 6. Monte reached the fourth round of the competition before losing to Aurora Young Blud.

As a result, fans have already had an opportunity to see the team in action, although its full debut following the official announcement is still ahead.

At the time of publication, the organization had not announced which tournament would serve as the updated roster's first major competition.

What Are the Prospects for Monte's New Team?

Monte is beginning a new chapter with an international lineup that brings together several players with experience competing at Majors.

sdy and br0 already know each other from their previous time with the organization. CYPHER has experience reaching a Major final, while mantuu is expected to strengthen the team as its primary AWPer.

However, the coaching staff's main priority will be establishing a consistent playing system and helping younger players adapt to the demands of international competition.

sdy's return also carries symbolic significance for Monte. The Ukrainian player was part of one of the most successful rosters in the club's history, and he will now help the organization begin a new chapter.

It remains to be seen whether the revamped lineup can repeat Monte's previous achievements and establish itself among the strongest teams in professional Counter-Strike 2.
