A third-place match will be held at PGL Singapore Major 2026

PGL Singapore Major 2026 to feature third-place match

PGL Singapore Major 2026 has made an interesting move concerning the tournament format. During the second Major in CS2 in 2026, the third-place game will take place, which will be unique among all Valve Major events ever held. The news was formally released by PGL officials through social media platform X.

The fact alone will make the next Major interesting even at the stage of announcing it. Previously, during the Majors of Counter-Strike, teams that failed in the semifinals finished without an additional round to win bronze. Currently, however, the participants will play one more official match during which the third place is defined.

Moreover, they specified the process of inviting teams to this championship. The invitations to the PGL Singapore Major 2026 will be made based on the ranking of Valve as of November 2, 2026. On the other hand, all teams are required to register their rosters for the championship before November 9. In this way, these dates will play an important role for teams planning to compete in such a major event of the season.

The championship itself will be held from November 24 until December 13, 2026. It will include participation of 32 teams and prize money worth $1.25 million. As always, the format of the championship will not change and will include three stages and playoffs.

Valve may be working on its own AI for user support

Therefore, besides being an interesting tournament for this year, the Singapore Major will also become a historical event by including a match for the third place into the competition format for the first time.
