Valve adds Animgraph 2 to main CS2 client
Valve added Animgraph 2 to the main CS2 client and released the first fixes

Valve has moved the Animgraph 2 animation system into the main Counter-Strike 2 client. The update was released during the night of April 21 after three weeks of testing in the game’s open beta version.
The new technology affects third-person character model animations. The developers updated not only the movements themselves, but also the logic of how characters behave on sloped surfaces. According to Valve, Animgraph 2 is intended not only to make animations smoother, but also to reduce CPU load and network resource usage. At the same time, first-person animations were already updated back in 2025, so the current changes apply specifically to the player model seen from the outside.
Immediately after moving Animgraph 2 into the live version of CS2, Valve released an additional 3.1 GB patch that fixed the first issues with the new system and addressed several other bugs. The list of changes included:
minor fixes to third-person model animations;
updated logic for weapon draw animations;
fixes to animations between knife attacks;
adjustments to third-person shooting animations for the Dual Berettas;
removal of a bug that allowed silent ladder running under certain key inputs;
fixes to surface smoothing at transitions between sloped and flat areas;
removal of an issue with incorrect grenade scaling after dropping and picking them up again;
fixes for crashes during pauses when switching sides from CT to T;
removal of a bug that caused the delay between shots in burst-fire mode to disappear.
